“Susan Frybort is that rarest of poets, a true visionary whose every line is forged out of inmost experience and whose language is sensuous, direct and embodied. Very few modern poets risk entering the territory she has embraced so bravely and with such dogged and precise passion. She subtitles this book, Poems to Encourage. Read these poems and let them arouse in you the courage you most need in our devastating times—the courage to experience and embody your own divine reality and put it into action on every level of your renewed life.”
—ANDREW HARVEY, author of Turn Me to Gold and Evolutionary Love Relationships
“Look to the Clearing offers rare and intimate companionship to anyone alert to the yearnings of their personal journey. With compassion for all that the soul’s path might bring to your doorstep, this volume offers insight and inquiry in equal measure, understanding that the spark of a question can ignite the truest quest of your heart. Frybort is not just alive to the paradoxes of our humanness—she helps us find guidance, clarity and even comfort within their midst.”
—PHILIP SHEPHERD, author of Radical Wholeness, Deep Fitness and New Self, New World
“Susan Frybort’s poems are so much more than just poems: they are invocations with the power of a centuries-old prayer; they are insights into how the culture you’re embedded in has skewed your perceptions; they are beautiful yet fierce reminders of our uniqueness; and they are, above all, portals through which the world can be brought more vividly into focus. Some you might want to memorize—that their wisdom might be close enough to hold you in difficult times. Others will inspire you to fall in love with the beauty of your being and all that we live amongst. Open these pages and tumble into the delight and wonder that they so clearly illuminate.”
—ALLYSON WOODROOFFE, embodiment coach and co-director of The Embodied Present Process
“Susan has given us another great masterpiece about the heart and its challenging and valuable journey through life. Her new book is indeed a painting that will continuously delight us and nurture our soul. What I always love about Susan’s work is that it is so firmly grounded in the truth of our human authenticity, as well as so rich in delightful images and metaphors. No false promises and no apologies for our humanity, rather an honoring of the human spirit with its tears and its laughter, its mishaps and breakthroughs, its trembling as well as its amazing courage. This precious book calls on us to deeply value, appreciate and love the full authenticity of who we are and what we go through. A book filled with warmth and real uncommon wisdom—to be read again and again!”
—CHRIS SAADE, life coach and author of Rebellion of the Heart: Deep Authenticity, Bold Love, Passion, Strength, & Global Solidarity
“In Look to the Clearing, Susan Frybort’s poetry expresses the deepest emotions of life in ways that honor the human spirit while acknowledging both the triumphs and the struggles. Susan’s poetry is a celebration for everyone who suffered as a child and through healing now “brings pure light into this world.” There is a poem for every phase of healing and profound encouragement for stepping bravely into life. This book of poetry is a must read for all who are on the healing path!”
